Tips for a Fuel Efficient Vehicle

When looking at the engine, it is a good idea to look at things like the fuel injection. It is also a good idea to look at the camshafts. Outside of the engine, it is also a good idea to pay attention to the suspension that the vehicle has. These different factors can help your vehicle to get the best possible performance at any given time. Besides inspecting the parts, you can also bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the parts for you. If there is an issue, it can be repaired quickly to avoid further damage to the vehicle when you drive.   The amount of fuel that is injected into the engine will make a difference in how much energy is being exerted on the flywheel. This is a great way to make sure that the power being produced in the cylinders will go through the rods to get to the rest of the engine and allow the vehicle to get the maximum possible performance. Make sure that the fuel injection is allowing you to get the most possible fuel into your system as possible so that you will have the ability to step on the gas and take off when or if you need to.   One of the important ways that you can make sure that the fuel is being burned properly is through the use of better operating camshafts. These are the chambers in which the fuel is burned. It is important to make sure that these are wide enough and that the fuel has the ability to get inside as much as you want it to. The more fuel that can get in, the easier it will be able to burn it. We can also inspect your vehicle to ensure everything is running properly as you drive this summer.

Keeping the Engine Cool

The engine creates a lot of heat while you are driving. It is important that this heat is removed immediately. If it is not than there can be problems in oil degradation and possible overheating of your vehicle. This is why it is important that you are not only maintaining your cooling system, but that you understand the different components which have a lot to do with the cooling of your engine. This will help in making sure that you are able to maintain a cool engine at all times. Among the things that you will need to know about includes the radiator. The water pump is an integral part that you should know about. Additionally, you should know about the hoses and connections which help to maintain the temperature of your engine. This will help in making sure that you will be able to understand whenever there is a problem with the cooling system.   The water pump is one of the most important parts of your cooling system. It is responsible for moving the coolant throughout your engine. Without this, there is no way that the engine will be able to maintain its temperature. These parts are fairly durable and seldom, if ever, need replacing. This is something to keep in mind though. If there is a problem in which your engine is overheating, it could be very well that the pump has malfunctioned in some way.   The radiator is where the coolant goes after it has been through the engine. This is a large grate which allows air to move through it. There is a fan which blows against the radiator along with the air flow that you will be able to get from driving your car. As air moves over the grates, it removes the heat from the coolant and whisks it away. If there is a problem with your radiator, it can cause the coolant to not be able to flow through it.   There are two hoses that are connected to the radiator which are responsible for bring in the coolant and drawing it out. The upper hose and the lower hose are integral to the operation of the cooling system. Without them, the flow of coolant will cease. This is why if there is a problem with one of the hoses, it will need to be replaced as fast as possible. There is also a line which will allow hot air to escape from the radiator and to the exhaust. This will allow the hot air a place that it can go to. If you notice any issue out of the norm with your vehicle, it is important to schedule an appointment to bring it in. This way we can inspect it for you. Having a vehicle that is regularly maintained can help it be safe and reliable this summer.

When new Belts are Needed

The belts are important and needed in order to help the engine to run smoothly so the power can be distributed throughout the vehicle. While sometimes you can see if there is an issue with the belts, other times you may not be able to notice anything. It is always best to bring your vehicle in so we can take a look at everything with it, that way we can help to prevent issues that may occur down the road.   The timing belt allows the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. It opens and closes the valves in a synchronized movement with the engine’s pistons. If the timing belt happens to break, the engine will stop working completely. This usually causes major damage to the engine.   Another belt is the serpentine belt. This powers the air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, cooling fan, and several others. When the serpentine belt breaks, all of the parts that the engine power will stop. This is a serious problem as it can cause your engine to overheat and become damaged. By keeping the serpentine belt in great condition, you can reduce the chance of damage to parts under the hood of your vehicle.   If a belt slips or breaks, waiting can possibly cause damage to your vehicle. Your power steering can stop working if a belt slips or breaks. Also, your engine can lock up if the belt comes off at any point in time. If you notice the belt squealing, especially on the fan or air conditioner, you should get your vehicle in as soon as possible so we can check it. Belts can also break down with excessive heat, mileage, or age. Make sure to bring the vehicle in regularly for inspections. If you are not sure how often to bring it in, make sure to contact us and we can advise you on the correct schedule.

The Importance of Brake Inspections

You will want your vehicle to be in the best condition possible, especially when you drive. It is recommended that you bring the vehicle in so we can inspect the parts and components on a regular basis. If you are not sure how often to bring the vehicle in, make sure to contact us and we can advise you on a schedule.   Over time, the brakes can start to wear out and decrease on the stopping power for the vehicle. By having your brakes inspected during your vehicle’s regular inspections, you will be aware when you need new brake pads or brake repair. Beyond that, you can increase the lifespan of your brakes by using your vehicle’s weight to coast to a stop from a greater distance rather than using your brakes to make a hard stop when coming to a stop light or any other anticipated stop.   If you notice any odd noises when you apply the brakes, make sure to schedule an appointment with us. The brake rotors and brake pads could be wearing and cause stress with one another. You might also notice if the brake pedal is too hard or soft when you apply it. This can be a sign of a leak for your vehicle. Another sign of an issue can be if the vehicle pulls in one direction or another when you apply the brake. No matter what issue you notice with the vehicle, make sure to bring it in as soon as possible so we can inspect it for you.
