Why Regular Maintenance is Important

It is important to bring your vehicle in for regular scheduled maintenances. By doing so, you can help to keep your vehicle in the most reliable condition possible. Regular maintenances can also help to maintain the resale value of your vehicle. Maintenance schedules are developed by the manufacturer to recommend requirements for each particular model of vehicle. Going to scheduled maintenances can reduce the chance of a larger repair bill down the road. Finding an issue while it is small can be fixed more cost efficiently than if it grows into a much larger issue.     Having maintenance done on your vehicle means keeping all the systems and features functioning as closely as possible to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Routine maintenance should be an ongoing process for the vehicle. It can also help your vehicle to start, run, and stop effectively. It can also maximize the amount of performance and reliability. Between visits you can inspect the vehicle to look for any signs of damage or wear. If you notice anything, make sure to bring your vehicle in as soon as possible.     If you neglect to go to regular scheduled maintenances, you may be doing more harm than you realize. One reason you might procrastinate going to scheduled maintenances is because of the cost. Unfortunately, if you do not bring your vehicle in for scheduled inspections, it may lead to a much higher repair bill. Sometimes signs like squeaking brakes may mean there is an issue with the brake system. If ignored, you might be running the risk for an accident. Small issues with your vehicle left unrepaired can lead to increased damage to your vehicle. Fixing one issue is much easier than fixing severe damage to other parts of your vehicle.     Having regular maintenance done on your vehicle can benefit it in several ways. The tires are one of the most important parts to the vehicle. Always make sure to check for any signs of wear. If they look worn or damaged, make sure to get the tires replaced. The oil should be inspected and changed regularly. By having regular oil changes done, you can help to prevent making costly engine repairs later. The oil filter should also be changed regularly. The battery will be inspected to make sure it is firmly anchored in place. It should also be clear of any corrosion on the battery and terminal posts. The brakes will be inspected to make sure they are in the best operating condition possible.

The Braking System of your Vehicle

The braking system of the vehicle is made up of several components that assists the vehicle in slowing down and stopping. When you step on the brake pedal, your master cylinder starts working. The master cylinder contains the brake fluid, which travels to the wheel’s braking unit where it is forced into a caliper. Calipers consist of two components that press against a piston. Attached to each wheel is a rotor. The rotor is pinched when the brake is applied, thus slowing the vehicle down. Your brake pad is there to support the friction that comes in contact with your rotor. It converts the motion of the rotor into heat energy through friction. The friction slows down the rotor.       An anti-lock braking system, also known as ABS, is designed in modern vehicles to assist in quicker stops.  Anti-lock brakes can also help prevent the vehicle from skidding uncontrollably when the brake is applied quickly from a high speed. With regular brakes you usually have to pump the brake off and on when coming to a stop to retain greater control of the vehicle. However, ABS brakes pump the brake for you at a rapid speed when the brake is deployed. Many have probably seen the ABS light on the dashboard from one time or another.       Hydraulic braking systems are powerful and are needed in all types of vehicles. This type of braking system involves a master cylinder, hydraulic fluid, and hydraulic lines. The hydraulic system is also made up of individual brake lines that radiate out of the brakes from the master cylinder. These brake lines are made out of high-quality steel that are resistant to corrosion and built to withstand high pressure.       Brake fluid is used inside the brakes of the vehicle. The fluid helps to decrease the amount of pressure on the actual brake mechanisms, which reduces wear and tear on the gears. The brake fluid works by lubricating the hydraulic brake gears and reducing the amount of pressure exerted on the actual hardware. It is important to ensure that you have the proper amount of brake fluid at all times. Without brake fluid, the brakes can wear out quickly. Make sure to contact us so we can inspect the brakes for you.

Ways to help Prolong the Life of the Engine

One of the most important parts of the vehicle is the engine. Without the engine, the vehicle would not be able to operate. Proper maintenance can help to extend the life of the engine as well. It can also help to prevent other nearby parts from wearing down sooner than they should. If this is ignored, it can result in other parts wearing out sooner than they should as well. Make sure to also drive with care. Driving over the speed limit and ramming or jamming the vehicle can lead to issues. It can even increase the chance of engine damage.     One of the most important things you can do for the overall efficiency of the vehicle is to have the oil changed when it is recommended. The oil is needed to help lubricate parts of the engine. If there is a lack of oil, parts will start to wear against each other. This can cause unnecessary friction and strain as well. The old and dirty oil can be removed from the vehicle. It will then be replaced with new clean oil. When the oil is changed, we can also inspect the oil filter for the vehicle. This will need to be changed and replaced on occasion. The oil filter is designed to capture dirt and other contaminants that are in the oil. Over time the filter will become clogged. This will no longer allow it to be efficient. The dirt and other pollutants would make their way to the engine and other parts. It can then increase the chance for damage to parts of the engine. By changing the oil regularly, you can help to ensure the cleanest oil possible is able to lubricate the engine and parts.     When driving, make sure to notice any sounds that might come from under the hood. If there is a squealing noise, it could mean that a belt is loose. It is important to have this looked at as soon as you can. If a belt snaps, other parts of the engine could be affected. Other noises like a screeching or other sounds could indicate parts are wearing incorrectly.     Having the vehicle in for regular maintenance is important. This is because we can look at parts and areas that you may not be aware of. This can help to ensure the vehicle is able to operate at the best efficiency level possible when you drive. Maintenances can also help to improve the fuel mileage when you drive. This is because the parts will be able to work together and correctly with one another.

Preventing the Vehicle from Overheating

Making sure your cooling system is working properly is key in maintaining a well working vehicle. The most important job of the cooling system is to keep the engine from overheating. It moves the heat away from the engine to the surrounding air to prevent your vehicle from overheating. Most of the vehicles on the road today use liquid to cool the engine. This is when the cooling system passes the fluid through the pipes and passageways in the engine, and absorbs the heat as it goes, that cools the engine. The heat then transfers from the fluid in your vehicle to the air at the radiator. Keeping the engine cool is a critical job for your vehicle.     The cooling system of your vehicle is highly important. This system will make sure your engine and other parts under the hood stay cool and will work as well as possible. If your engine overheats it can cause serious damage to your vehicle, and have a costly bill to have it repaired. Also, the engine in your vehicle will run the best at a fairly high temperature. When the engine is cold, the components will wear out faster and the engine is then less efficient and emits more pollution. Another job the cooling system does is to allow the engine to heat up as quickly as possible, then it helps to keep the engine at a constant temperature. Having the engine operating at the correct temperature will maximize the efficiency of it.     Keeping the cooling system maintained is important for your vehicle to run efficiently and smoothly. Checking the coolant level regularly and making sure the amount in there is correct, is absolutely essential for your vehicle. You should check this regularly to make sure the fluids are at the level they should be. If you notice the level is low, you should top it off. If you notice the levels are going down significantly and often, make sure to get your vehicle in as soon as possible to have it inspected for any possible problems it may have.     Most of the time if your vehicle is beginning to overheat, you may notice that the temperature gauge or warning light on your dashboard comes on. This is an indicator that your vehicle is overheating. Even a slight overheating can have a negative effect on your vehicle’s performance and the longevity of your engine. Overheating of your vehicle can be caused by several problems, one being low or worn out coolant. It is always best to have your cooling system inspected regularly rather than to deal with an unexpected failure or issue that could have been prevented by inspections.
