Driving with Care

As summer gets closer, now is a great time to inspect the vehicle over. This can help the vehicle to run at top efficiency during the summer months. It is also recommended to inspect the vehicle after the harsh weather of winter. Parts may have started to wear and may need replacing. The windshield wipers may also need attention. Through the winter they work excessively to clear away ice, snow, frost, and other road grime. The blades will start to rip, tear, and wear down with time. To have the best visibility possible, the windshield wipers should be inspected and replaced if needed. This can help to make your summer driving pleasant.     The most important thing to do for the vehicle is to go to regular maintenances. This can help ensure that parts and components of the vehicle are working, as they should be. If you notice any strange noises the vehicle makes, be sure to schedule an appointment. This could indicate an issue. Parts could be wearing on one another. It may also mean that parts are starting to slip and become damaged, like belts. Any smells you notice can also be an indication of a problem. It could mean that there is a leak or damage done to an area of the vehicle. To ensure it is running the best it can be, make sure to bring it in as soon as you can. This can help to determine if there are issues with the vehicle. When recommended, we can replace these parts of the vehicle. With regular maintenances, you can help to ensure that the vehicle runs at its peak performance.     The tires should also be inspected on a regular basis. The air pressure will need to be checked. They can also be more prone to blowing out when they rotate. Under inflated tires can lead to poor fuel efficiency. This is because the vehicle will have to use more power to make up for the poor tires. If the tires are over inflated, they can be more likely to pick up sharp objects or debris. The over inflated tires also have less contact on the surface of the road. This can make for an uncomfortable ride when traveling. The tread will also have to be inspected, because the tread will help to provide enough grip to the road when you travel.     Now is also a good time to inspect the battery of your vehicle. The battery can become weak over the winter because of the cold temperatures. Make sure to inspect the posts and terminals of the battery. They should be free of any build up of dirt or other debris. If you notice that the vehicle is becoming harder to start, bring it in. We can inspect the battery to see if a new one is recommended. By having a clean battery, you can have a more efficient vehicle.

When the Headlights should be inspected

Lights are a very important part of your vehicle. This is especially true when it can affect your ability to see the road in which you are driving. When driving at night without lights, one of two things can happen to you. You can get pulled over by a cop, and get a get an expensive ticket. You could also have an accident because the visibility is so poor. By staying on top of your lights, you can more easily avoid any accident that can ruin your life or the lives of others. The best thing to do is have spare headlights available in the case of emergencies like this.   You can always bring your vehicle in and we can inspect the headlights for you. This can help to determine if the headlights need to be replaced. We will be able to alert you to the condition of the lights. Sometimes the headlights will need to be readjusted so they are aimed correctly. We can also inspect the taillights and blinkers of the vehicle. You will have a better ability to see in the night without leaving too big of a dent in your finances. You may start to notice that the headlights start to dim a little as time goes on. However, some people do notice that it gets a little harder to see at night even with high beams. This is a sign that you may need to have your headlights changed. They will not just go out like brake lights in most cases. The thought about getting headlights replaced tends to intimidate people. However, it is actually an easy and inexpensive process. It is not like replacing a component in the car’s engine. You just have to decide on how you will have your lights changed. This can help improve the visibility when you drive. Not only will good headlights help you to see, but it also helps others to see where you are. This can help prevent an accident when you are driving at night. The blinkers are equally important because it can alert people to which way you would be turning. This can also help prevent them from running into you. If you notice an issue with the lights, make sure to bring the vehicle in as soon as you can. This can help you save time, money, and stress in the long run.

The Check Engine Light of your Vehicle

The most common reason that your check engine light comes on is because it is time for regular maintenance to be done. Some manufacturers will set the vehicle so that the light will turn on at regular intervals after being serviced. It will do this even when there is nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle. After bringing the vehicle in for routine fluid checks and oil changes, we will be able to turn the light off so you can continue driving without the distraction of the check engine light. If the light is on, we can have it diagnosed based on the computer. This can help to provide you with a safe and reliable vehicle again.   Belts have a tendency to slip or loosen as they wear. These can cause mechanical problems including timing issues. When the computer registers these issues, it will indicate that it is time to replace the belts. Making sure that you bring the vehicle in to service the engine soon will reduce further issues from forming in the vehicle. Ignoring the problem of the check engine light will only make the problem worse. You can also inspect the belts to see what condition they are in. If you notice a crack or damage, make sure to have them replaced as soon as possible.   Whenever the temperature of the engine starts to rise past the normal range, it can send warning signals to the computer. The check engine light is a warning to let you know that there is a possibility of further problems you might be encountering with your vehicle so you will be able to get it fixed as quickly as possible. Often, the issue with possibly overheating can be alleviated by topping off coolants or repairing radiators. If the vehicle starts to overheat, make sure to pull over where it is safe and turn it off. This can help prevent further damage happening to parts of the vehicle and engine. If you notice the vehicle overheats quickly, make sure to bring it in. Catching an issue at the first sign can help you to save time, money, and stress in the long run.

Tips for Better Driving

No matter the time of year, it is always important to drive as safe as possible. By doing so, you can help ensure your safety, as well as those around you. Being aware of your surroundings when you drive is important. You can notice any objects or debris that may be in the road you are traveling on. By seeing the obstruction ahead of time, you can prepare to slow down or stop your vehicle in a safe manor.   Vehicle Inspections   Make sure to go to regularly scheduled maintenances for your vehicle. Inspect the brakes because they need to be working properly in order to drive safely no matter what the weather may be. Windshield wipers are also a necessity, especially during rainy or snowy driving conditions. Without the wipers, your visibility may be reduced. Also make sure to check the windshield for any chips or cracks it may have. If you notice any, make sure to get the windshield fixed as soon as you can before it becomes more serious.   Remember the Spare   Keeping a spare tire in your vehicle can help incase you experience a flat tire while driving. Make sure that the tire is inflated to the correct pressure. The correct amount can be found in the vehicle owner’s manual. Also inspect the spare tire for any punctures or marks it might have. You will want to ensure the spare tire is in good condition. The spare tire can help you reach a service station or other safe or convenient place to take your vehicle to.   Focus on Driving   Make sure to leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you. You should make sure there is at least three seconds between you and that vehicle. Do not tailgate other vehicles or pass on the shoulders. Also make sure to obey stoplights or stop signs, even if no one else is around. When you are behind the wheel, the most important thing to do is to drive. Do not talk or text on your phone, apply makeup, eat, or play with the radio. Anything that distracts your from driving may increase your chance of an accident. If you have to do something like talk on the phone, make sure to pull over where it is safe to do so.   Notice other Drivers   It is important to not assume anything about the other drivers as not all drivers plan their actions ahead. Sometimes they may stop and at the last second decide to turn. Also be caution as you see a vehicle signaling to turn. Sometimes the blinker may be on and the drive does not notice. Always make sure to proceed with caution when approaching other vehicles, and to keep a safe distance.
